Come join us to see the latest film from Richard Linklater, Boyhood, which was produced over the course of 12 years as lead actor Ellar Coltrane grew up in front of the camera. And before the 8:00pm screening, hang out on the Rooftop to the sound stylings of DJ The Real Jaguar starting at 6:00pm.
We will give away 1 pair of passes (2 tickets) to the 8:00pm screening on Tuesday, August 12 courtesy of Sundance Cinemas. Anyone who “joins” our Facebook event page before Noon on August 12 is eligible to win, and the winner will be contacted promptly at Noon. (Please be sure that you can make it to the screening before you sign up for the giveaway.)
Everyone who “joins” the event page before Noon on August 12 will receive a 50% discount on specialty cocktails at the Sundance Rooftop Bar and Grill. (Names will be given to the Box Office Tuesday afternoon, simply pickup a coupon when you buy or pick up your tickets Tuesday night.)
All the more reason to hang out with the Madison Film Forum and DJ The Real Jaguar (host of WORT’s “Who Cooks for You”) as he offers a musical concoction up on the Rooftop from 6:00-7:45pm.
The Madison Film Forum wants you to stream one great film every week, attend at least one great film every month, and meet people doing the same. We don’t sponsor these screenings, we just support them by showing up (and in many cases, making it a bit more fun before or after the screening).
We’ve aggregated many reviews of Boyhood (positive and negative) at our Madison Film Forum Flipboard Magazine. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 99% Freshness Rating. Review highlights include:
“Boyhood shimmers with unforced reality. It shows how an ordinary life can be reflected in an extraordinary movie.” Richard Corliss, Time Magazine
“In completing this simple, beautiful project Linklater took his time. And he rewards ours.” Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune
