Join us Tuesday at Marcus Point Cinemas as we finally catch up with The Imitation Game, the story of Alan Turing and the breaking of the Enigma Code in World War II, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightly. It has been an audience favorite at festivals this past year, and of course has been nominated for several awards this awards season.
Admission is $5 as a Movie Tuesday at Marcus Point. We strongly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance online (see ticket link above).
Join Madison Film Forum contributors James Kreul and Jake Smith at the screening. With the Madfilm Meetups, the Madison Film Forum provides opportunities to attend great films and meet people doing the same.
The Imitation Game has had a mixed response from film critics, earning a 89% Tomatometer Rating at Rotten Tomatoes. You can find a collection of reviews, positive, mixed, and negative, at our Flipboard Magazine:
“The ‘action’ here is Turing tinkering with his machine. Or simply thinking — which, as Cumberbatch portrays it, is adventure of the highest order.” Richard Corliss, Time
“The Imitation Game is a highly conventional movie about a profoundly unusual man. This is not entirely a bad thing.” A.O. Scott, New York Times
“Good as he’s been in the past … the richness and complexity of Turing’s character make this portrayal of an arrogant, difficult, sure-of-himself individual the role of Cumberbatch’s career.” Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
“The movie is undeniably strong in its sense of a bright light burned out too soon, and the often undignified fate of those who dare to chafe at society’s established norms.” Scott Foundas, Variety
