New Feature: All Calendar Events Auto-Tweeted @MadFilmForum

Screen Shot 2014-01-18 at 10.45.21 PMWe’ve all had the experience of marking our calendars when exciting film screenings are first announced, only to completely forget about them until we’ve already made plans for the only night when a film will play in Madison. Starting today, the Madison Film Forum introduces a new tool to give you a last reminder the morning of all events listed in our Alternative Screening Calendar, and give you at least a chance to take a rain check with your mother-in-law so that you can catch that must-see film. All Alternative Screening Calendar events will generate a tweet to @MadFilmForum ten hours before the screening or the limited run begins. If you’re not already checking our Calendar when planning your day, all you need to do to receive these reminders is to follow us at twitter.com/MadFilmForum.

Today’s Calendar Tweets

For example, the Alternative Screening Calendar has four events listed for today (Thursday, June 26). This morning, our calendar plugin generated a separate tweet for each of them: our Madfilm Meetup; Camp Randall Movie Night (The Lego Movie); Beauty and the Beast; and the World Refugee Day Film (Finding the Middle Way). If you need more information about any particular screening, you can always find it at madfilm.org/calendar. We hope that this feature will be particularly helpful for reminding you about important one-night-only screenings at the UW Cinematheque or Sundance Classics. We hope to work out some of the quirks of the tweet template (like the default use of military time) by passing along your feedback to the plugin developers (Timely), who have already been very helpful in helping us implement the new system. If you have any feedback about the new feature, please let us know in the comments below, or simply reply to one of the Calendar tweets @MadFilmForum.
